Chapters 01
Mom would get up with dad and make a full breakfast for him every day, then he would be out the door by half past four. His day was long and hard. He wouldn’t get home until around 4:30 or 5 in the afternoon. I was always so happy to see him. I used to wait until he pulled into the driveway and I would often hide in his closet. His routine was to always come in and change his clothes and I would jump out at him and scare him. I’m not sure if he knew it was going to happen, but he made the most out of it and I loved it. It’s one of my favorite memories with my dad.

Carol was born on November 18, 1946. Her mom was Beth and her dad was Ralph Gordon, Betty’s brother. She was the middle child, with an older brother Kenneth and a younger sister Susan. It was the summer of 1948 when Ralph was killed in the construction accident. I can only sit and ponder what that family, well in fact the whole Gordon family felt. But what I find really interesting is that her birth mother, Beth, really didn’t want Carol. Kenneth and Susan were kept together, Carol was sent to live with my mom and dad.
